April 22
Been trying at some more free hand drawing, it definitely comes more naturally to me than Illustrator. Another day of thinking about what makes me pursue art... sometimes I wonder this because after so many years of art school (both high school and college) i find myself completely lacking any new, progressive, innovative things to say like we're always told to do. So sometimes I think I just like art because it gives me a chance to have my own take on what's already there... and I drew this bird because I love love LOVE nature and animals and it's cathartic and meaningful to recreate what I see in my own terms. I drew this from a photo I took as well.

There's a reason why we love the same stories over and over. Novels have the same 5 basic plots (as do movies)-- what matters is how we present those things with our own perspective. That's what distinguishes it. Originality is utterly unoriginal.
